Improved Pump Station Monitoring for Elizabethtown: A Success Story

Established in January 2012 through the merger of the Mount Joy Township Authority and the West Donegal Township Authority, the Elizabethtown Regional Sewer Authority (ERSA) manages 15 pumping stations, providing essential wastewater services to approximately 4,800 customers. Recognizing the limitations of their outdated landline pump station alarm dialers, including high phone service fees and lack of remote operational data, ERSA sought a modern solution in early 2015. To enhance pump station alarm monitoring and streamline operations, ERSA partnered with Envirep and successfully trialed the OmniSite Pump Station Monitoring System. This led to a full upgrade by May 2019, implementing the OmniSite Crystal Ball system across all 15 stations. The result was reduced costs, and enhanced efficiency in their sewer system management.
Steve Rettew, Operations Supervisor at ERSA, characterized the implementation of OmniSite alarm dialers as a highly positive development, noting it was a “blessing” for their operations. The key advantages he highlighted included the availability of detailed operational data, streamlined issue resolution through effective data identification, a user-friendly interface, enhanced proactive maintenance capabilities, improved decision-making during alarm situations, and exceptional technical support.
